WHAT IS REVERSE SPEECH?
A simple explanation
If human speech is recorded and then played backwards, in amongst the gibberish of backwards audio, can be heard intelligible sentences scattered at regular intervals throughout the backward sounds. These backward phrases almost always have a relationship to the subject being spoken about in the forward speech. They can either confirm what is being said or be contradictory to it. Sometimes they expand upon the forward speech, giving extra information or clarifying details. After some 26 years of research and working with the phenomenon, the discoverer concludes that this secondary speech comes from the unconscious mind. This being the case, what is said in reverse is always true, as it is only the conscious mind that can think.
Hypnotherapists have long since known that it is the unconscious mind which drives us. No amount of will power (which comes from the conscious mind), will ever overcome the sabotage patterns contained in the unconscious mind.

A more technical explanation
Hidden backwards in the sounds of speech there is another form of communication, another part of you that is also speaking. This secondary form of communication is called Reverse Speech™.
The pioneer and 26 year veteran of this field, Australian David John Oates, states that language is bi-level, forward and reverse. As the human brain constructs the sounds of speech, it forms those sounds in such a way that two messages are delivered simultaneously. One forwards, which is the conscious mind speaking, and the other in reverse, which is the unconscious mind speaking.
These backward phrases are not random, they appear in a predictable fashion.
For example, in a highly charged and emotional state where speech is flowing freely with no pre-thought, they can occur as often as once every 5 seconds. On the other end of the scale, they occur less frequently in scripted public speech, sometimes as little as once every 5-10 minutes.
As it appears constantly throughout language, it is believed to be a natural part of our speech process.
On a surface level, it can act as a sort of truth detector, as Reverse Speech™ will usually correct the inconsistencies of forward speech. If a lie is spoken, the truth may be communicated in reverse. If pertinent facts are purposefully left out of the forward speech these may be spoken in reverse. It can uncover hidden motives and agenda.
At a deeper level, Reverse Speech can expose thought patterns that are unconscious; including reasons behind behaviour and disease.
At its deepest levels, the human mind speaks in pictures and images, or metaphors and archetypes. These metaphors form the basic building blocks of behaviour and personality. By changing these metaphoric structures it is possible to change the behaviour they represent.
With an understanding of the metaphoric images, amazing insights into the inner workings of the unconscious mind can be obtained.
