HELP!!

Each of us has a tolerance level....a line beyond which we will not be pushed. Where is your line? Whether you are a prospective client, a fellow practitioner or merely an interested bystander, I suggest you read on so that you can decide now....TODAY, before it's too late. The prison door is closed, will you really let the key be turned in the lock? I hope not.

For about ten years I have been aware that the government has brought in many new laws with the excuse that it is "For the protection of the public" Like tens of thousands of others I sat back and got on with my life thinking that it didn't affect me....wrong.

Each individual law makes a stronger barrier for the public to be put behind. A quote from German Pastor Martin Niemöller talking about Nazi Germany, comes to mind here:

They came first for the Communists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew.
Then they came for me
and by that time no one was left to speak up for me.

My toes reached my line last week when I realised that the profession to which I belong was being herded along a government pathway to join yet another of their scams using the "For their protection" line.

A voluntary scheme (voluntary, as with a gun held to your head) was set up just over a year ago, and using their own words ‘Although the scheme will initially be voluntary, it is hoped that all practitioners will be forced to join or lose business.’  (Italics are my emphasis)

This scam, sorry, scheme is supposedly to regulate ALL alternative therapies, and on December 1st opened its doors to hypnotherapists for the first time.

It is known as the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (C.N.H.C.)

English (U.K.) Encarta Dictionary definition of scheme:

A secret and cunning plan, especially one designed to cause damage or harm

Never was a definition more true.

The CNHC has been specifically designed to put together all practitioners of all therapies, even though they have only one piece of common ground between them. That is to aid and abet their clients to achieve a better standard of health, preferably without drugs. And in those last three words you have the reason for the formation of CNHC.

The drug companies do not like seeing their profits fall, and over many years the general public have been turning to complementary therapies as a viable alternative, so any therapy is perceived as being a direct threat to them. For proof of this statement one only has to look into Codex Alimentarius, which in April 2011 was the cause of all herbal and homeopathic medicines being taken off the shelves forever, and seen the potency of vitamins bought over the counter greatly reduced.

Personally I have never felt that the public have needed protection from complementary therapists, but statistics show that protection from some sectors of the medical profession and drug companies would be advisable.

According to Maggie Dunn, Chief Executive of the CNHC, “Members of the public will soon be able to search the CNHC register for hypnotherapists who are properly trained, qualified and insured. Registration with the CNHC demonstrates that practitioners have met national standards and abide by a rigorous code of conduct, giving confidence to the public.........not true

The CNHC website states that it is only a regulatory body, they do not set the standards for therapies. Each therapy has a ‘Profession Specific Board.’ It is this board which will advise them on all things to do with that therapy. Now that all sounds very professional and trustworthy to both the therapists and the public at large (who need protecting) ............... On closer examination, I think not.

With regards to Hypnotherapy, its particular board has four members, all of whom were selected by the Hypnotherapy Regulatory Forum..........hypnotherapists were not asked who they would like to represent them.........Not exactly democratic.

In addition to this, half the board are not, and never have been, practising Hypnotherapists ...... so how can they set standards?

One member runs a register that any hypnotherapist can join, provided they pay the fee. ........what sort of quality or safety does that represent?

The other two members have no idea of how the members of my particular professional body work, yet this body has been successfully regulating its members for many years. (Corporation of Advanced Hypnotherapy)

And just in case you think that my criticism of CNHC is unjustified, allow me to put the following facts in front of you:

1. The medical profession considers CNHC to actually be dangerous to public health.

2. The CNHC is already being ridiculed by mainstream media and is referred to as OFQUACK.........not exactly what a supposedly professional body needs.

3. The CNHC requires no evidence that any of their therapies work - and was willing to open the hypnotherapy register without even having any training standards in place!

4. The CNHC is unpopular among complementary therapists themselves, so that only around 3000 (out of tens of thousands) have joined and many are not renewing.

5. The CNHC was founded by the Foundation for Integrated Health charity (FIH). The process was rigged and the charity was recently shut down for fraud.
The old FIH tried to run complementary therapies for about a decade, soaking up millions of public money before being shut down for fraud.  During this time it held a CON-sultation asking complementary therapists what they wanted.  Only a few hundred replied. On that basis they claimed they had a mandate from tens of thousands of therapists to set up a regulator like CNHC.

The individual who registered the CNHC website is the same FIH person being prosecuted for fraud.

I do not believe in CNHC full stop, and subsequently do not wish to be registered with it. However I would like to state a further issue with regards to hypnotherapy.

No self respecting hypnotherapist would have a problem with being regulated; but it has to be by people that understand the art. That is why I and my closest colleagues joined bodies for self regulation long before the drug companies via the government saw fit to create CNHC. We did this because we are professional people, not a part of society from which the public need protecting.

Given that hypnotherapy was recognised as a bona fide practice by the British Medical Association in 1972; I and my closest colleagues have never considered hypnotherapy to be a complementary therapy in much the same way that psychotherapy or counselling are not either...... Why then are its practitioners without so much as a whimper so far, allowing it being dragged into CNHC?

I have been a hypnotherapist for some years now. I trained to become one because I passionately believe in the power of the mind to heal not only the body, but situations and relationships as well. Over the years of practising the art of using the techniques which I was taught, I have seen hundreds of clients whose lives have improved beyond recognition. Multiply those by the hundreds of successful hypnotherapists in the U.K. alone, and you have many thousands of people who are now leading normal happy lives who otherwise would have been condemned to a constant drip feed of drugs to dumb down their symptoms.

Are they and people like them to be denied freedom of choice? Why can they not choose what they deem to be the most suitable treatment for them? Are the general public really as stupid as the bureaucrats would have us believe? Are we going to stand by and allow these basic freedoms to be taken from us?

Well, this lady in particular is not. I urge all of my fellow practitioners to come out of their respective closets and refuse to enter the playground of CNHC.

Come on..........let's show these bureaucratic dictators what a proud, confident and effective profession we are; and just as importantly, a profession that the public does not need to be protected from.

FURTHER INFORMATION ON THE "UNSEEN AGENDA"

Unseen for the most part of the last 100+ years, there has been an agenda unfolding to take away our freedom. 10 years ago this agenda began accelerating at a rapid rate of knots and many of us became aware of it. I speak for myself here when I say that whilst I had become aware of it, in common with tens of thousands of others, I did nothing other than to try and inform others that it was happening. Even that was difficult when ridicule was the usual response.

Now, if you open your eyes and look around you, the evidence is everywhere....... from thousands of CCTV cameras to CNHC and numerousother things in between.

Our freedom is all but gone, it is now being eroded by the hour not the day, yet still so many people keep their eyes closed so as not to see it. The human race has allowed itself to sleep walk into this situation; and doing nothing is no longer an option. As a race we still have time to turn this around.............but only just, so get off your backside and make a difference!

We have to stop thinking in terms of "little me." because lots of "little me's" can become a force to be reckoned with. Not in terms of violence or even marching in protest; all we have to do is be organised in our resolve of refusing to be bullied into agreeing to that which we know is not right and stand by each other so that we cannot be picked off one by one. The system cannot cope with refusal on a mass scale, it can only win if we do not stand together as one. It is time to stand up and be counted.
